A couple weeks ago as I headed from Europe to Arctic Siberia in -40C for a photographic assignment, my baggage containing all my clothes were lost by the airline, so I arrived in Moscow with a T-shirt, a fleece and a bag of cameras. By great fortune I bumped into photographer Yuriy Chichkov at the airport, and he led me on a high-speed scramble for Arctic wear in Moscow before my next flight took off to the icy desert that night. OXFAM’s “After the Thaw”

In 2010 and 2011, OXFAM approached me to work with them on a campaign to raise awareness of the economic stagnation and crumbling welfare that was plaguing post-Soviet countries, 20 years after the disintegration of the Soviet Union.
