All-terrain seismic exploration vehicles “vibrators”, made by French company Sercel and costs 1 million euros each, roams the Arctic tundra near Naryan-Mar in the Nenets Autonomous Region. The vehicles, owned by Russian company “Seismorevzedka”, uses seismic vibration to test the structure of the earth crust below to help prospect for oil and gas. Four billion tonnes of gas and oil have been found in the region in the last decade.
